Procomm plus for windows free download - Windows Media Player Plus, Memory Zipper Plus, Uninstall Plus, and many more programs. I was concerned the Procomm Plus would not work with Windows 7 and I would not be able to use the scripts that I run daily to help automate my work.
We are currently upgrading a few remaining XP machines to Windows 7 x64. Topaz Filter Serial Key. This includes a laptop that is used to send/receive ASCII CNC programs to/from manufacturing equipment via RS-232, using Procomm 3.0. I'm looking for a replacement program with as nearly identical interface/functionality as possible. The end-users involved are not particularly tech-savvy and the less change, the better for all involved. I searched briefly, but all the results I looked into seem more geared for RS-232 monitoring, when all I need is a simple GUI transfer program, possibly with the ability to display the file in an integrated editor of some sort. I've attached an image of the Procomm 3.0 interface as it appears on their current machine.
Notice the obvious buttons and the drop-down on the upper left that allows them to easily choose the files from a specific location. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. We did some very preliminary testing with Ericom Powerterm Lite but decided to keep looking. We are currently testing DNC Software as a replacement for Procomm 3.0.
We are using a trial installation but the early consensus from the users is that this product seems to do everything they had hoped. The only issue we have encountered, and solved, with this program, so far, was that when sending to the machines we are using (Okuma and Kitako mills) extraneous spaces etc. Were added to the programs unless the 'Executive Tape' send option was used.
We will continue evaluation for the balance of the trial period but it seems very likely this will be our replacement software of choice. Thanks for the suggestions so far. As I've looked a bit deeper into this situation, it seems the GUI for transfer is the most important aspect, while the editor is secondary. I was told that most programs are such, that the ability to edit in Notepad could be sufficient if an integrated editor were not available. I also saw SecureCRT () mentioned elsewhere. It claims ease of use but I'm uncertain how comparable the transfer interface is to Procomm.
Has anyone used it? If transfer is more important than editing ability, does anyone know of any serial RS-232 GUI applications that can send the ASCII files to/from the production equipment, maybe those that have only a basic text editor or no editor at all included in the package (again, attempting to keep the interface as similar to Procomm 3.0 as possible)? Edited Oct 18, 2013 at 6:12 UTC. According to, PowerTerm by Ericom ( ) is the recommended Procomm replacement but 'Not as good as Procomm'. I very briefly looked at PowerTerm Lite as an option but am hoping to find a more familiar interface.
Putty seems to be too unfamiliar for the users involved. I was able to find a copy of Procomm Plus 4.7 we were no longer using but have been, as yet, unable to get the included setup file to run to install on 64-bit Win7. However, individual programs on the install disk seem to run. John Schultz, were you using the installer for Procomm 4.8 or were you simply accessing the files?
If the former, how were you able to run the InstallShield installer, and if the latter, are there any caveats or tips you can offer that may assist me in making this work? Edited Oct 21, 2013 at 7:15 UTC. When I have attempted to use either the Procomm 3.0, or 4.7 installer I receive the following error from Windows: 'The version of this software is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.' I have also tried copying the Procomm 3.0 files directly from the XP installation folder (C: PROWIN3) on the current laptop to the same location on the new Win 7 64-bit PC, but running the files from there results in the same error. When I've attempted to run the Installers or the individual programs from the copied folder using various Compatibility Mode settings (most often, Windows 98 or XP, both 'Run as Administrator') and click 'Start the program.' Nothing happens, as in no errors, nothing.
OK, I copied the 4.7 installer disc files into a folder on the root of C: and was able to run the PW4.exe application contained in the 'PROGRAMS' folder from there without using Compatibility Mode. I was able to run through the user setup, including the Serial Number etc. And it appears to open the Procomm Plus Terminal window as expected. I will have the users test a transfer and report my findings. I am having some difficulties loading connection files and gathering setup data from the old Procomm 3.0 to either recreate or import directly into the attempted fix version Procomm 4.7. This has been my first exposure to this software and apparently nobody else here has any idea how or why the old system works.

It has been decided that rather than spending an inordinate amount of time learning the ins and outs of Procomm configuration, we will again look for an alternative to not only, replace Procomm 3.0 but also, replace HyperTerm, which apparently is also used internally to communicate with other older manufacturing equipment. Winreducer Serial. To that end, the engineers that depend on this software have been asked to contact vendors to explorer other options.
Thank you all for your assistance thus far. The search continues. We did some very preliminary testing with Ericom Powerterm Lite but decided to keep looking.
